The 2000 SPC Rally

Best Racing Visit

Out front (50k)

On Friday (June 16), the group made a pit stop at  one of our favorite shops, Best Racing in Willowbrook IL.  The Best staff supplied the group with lunch and was available for to answer any questions we had.

A common observation among the group: lunch seems to taste better while eating it seated in a Momo racing seat.

Mid-2000: Best Racing is no longer in business.  Too bad - we'll miss 'em!

As more people continued arriving in Chicago for the rest of the festivities, we spent the time getting to know everyone and associate faces with e-mail addresses.

The Dyno

You have to like the dyno.  It wants you to give it all your car has got.  It has no opinion and no expectations, and it only tells the truth.  You can read about what a dyno is and how it works HERE.

David stepped up during the rally and put his SC2 with a Venom computer on the rollers to see if it actually helped the car make power.  There were large gains just as advertised, right?

Actually, no.
According to the numbers, runs with the Venom computer on showed a significant loss in the car's horsepower & torque.

Our thanks and appreciation go out to David for making an effort to put this thing on a dyno and his willingness to share the results no matter what they were.

If you'd like the complete dyno graphs and all the details on the Venom (as well as details on a set of BPE underdrive pulleys that were also recently dyno'd), pick up a commemorative 2000 SPC Rally CD-ROM.  Details on how to get yours will be at the end of this section.
