One Lap of America - 5/6/2001

Michigan International Speedway stands (39k)
This is one big track.

The next event was on Sunday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI.   This is one large track, with a banked oval and road course.  It is also able to seat more than a hundred-thousand people.  Wow.

Watching (25k)
Enjoying the speed and sounds.

A Track Time driving school was in progress as the One Lap competitors began arriving at the track.  We got as close as we could to the track, and enjoyed the speed and sound of the Nascar cars as they flew by.

As everyone waited for the driving school to finish, there was a lot of time to take a look at all the beautiful cars and just hang out with the Saturn team.

At the right you can see Tapp, Brian J, Deebs, Bill H, and Lane.

Nissan Skyline (30k)Mustang (30k)

A wickedly-fast Nissan Skyline (that beat the Vipers at the dragstrip earlier in the day), and a view under the hood of a supercharged '60s Mustang.

Sleeping (30k)

Since there isn't much time between events (and most of it is spent driving from one to the next), competitors sleep whenever and wherever they get the chance.
