The 2002 SPC Rally

The Dyno

Lined up (33k)
Kevin (MO), Dirk (IL), Saturn Motorsports (CA), and Tyler R (CA) parked at the dyno shop.

On Sunday morning (August 4), the group woke up way too early to head out to TMW Chassis Dyno services in Morris IL.

With a few open- and race-exhaust cars being dyno'd indoors, we were gonna need these.

For those who aren't familiar, a dyno (chassis dynomometer) measures the actual horsepower that a car puts to the ground after driveline losses.  If you change parts on your car often and want to know how they affect power, this is the way to find out.

Bob (24k)

Bob A (IL) made the trip in his 2002 SC2.  It wasn't even three months old, and he already had power Recaro seats, custom pinstriping and graphics, Konig wheels, and upgraded brakes all around.  With the motor still in stock form, the dyno will tell Bob how much power it makes before does anything to it.

The Saturn Motorsports guys had brought the Progress Suspension car with them from CA (more on this car later).  They pulled it out of the trailer to make way for another car that they needed to unload and dyno.

These types of trailers have a seriously trick door.  It's amazing how it can hold the entire weight of a car to bring it down from the top level.
