The 2007 SPC Rally

"Hurricane on the Bayou" was showing in the museum's Omnimax theater.  The screen was HUGE and was shaped in a half-circle providing a full 180 degrees of view.

Another very interesting exhibit was the Pioneer Zephyr train from the 1930s.  The sheer quantity of polished stainless steel was blinding.  You can see more info on this train HERE.  Be sure to check out the virtual reality tour.

After the tour of the submarine, Francine got one of those injection-molded plastic figures of it.

There is something about the smell of hot melted plastic.

Navy Pier

Our next stop was Navy Pier.  The park's view of Lake Michigan was beautiful.  While here, we had to sit down for some ice cream - a required part of any club event.

The Ferris wheel was huge - over 150 feet high with a capacity of 240 people.  It was irresistable and we had to take a ride.

A larger high-resolution photo of the Ferris wheel can be seen HERE.

The view from the top gave us quite a look at the city.  It was such a clear day that we could also see part of Indiana in the distance.

At the right are Jeff P, Doug N, Francine, and Denise P.

After we were done at Navy Pier, it was back into the passenger van to see more of the sights.  Above you can see the view of the skyline (as well as the traffic), and part of Soldier Field Stadium.  Why it has a piece on the top that looks like a UFO crashed into it, I'll never know.
