We visited the shop of one of our sponsors in Willowbrook IL, the team of BEST Racing & Race Partners.

BEST heads out to Gingerman Raceway several times each year for all day lapping sessions at a very reasonable price.  You can bet that I won't be waiting until next year's SPC rally to drive the road course again!

 

Mike & Dave at BEST spoke a bit about the most important upgrades that should be done before driving a car fast - a safety harness, a good helmet, and proper brake pads.  Many in our group had already made the investment.

BEST had been out at Gingerman Raceway with us the day before and had brought some vital go-fast parts with them.  I purchased a set of Carbotech Super Street F-Compound pads from them at the track after encountering massive brake fade during my first track session.  They're excellent brake pads that work well for race or street, and made a hell of a difference on the track for the remainder of my sessions.

Drag Race Prep

After the day at Gingerman and our parts purchases at BEST, we had some time before heading out to Great Lakes Dragway to do some maintenance & relax a bit at the Deebs' Compound in suburban Chicago.
