Many drivers had off-track excursions through the ice, snow, and mud.  This is a black Acura Integra (well, it's black most of the time).

Jamin's tow (24k)Jamin's plug (16k)

Bad luck struck Jamin during an extremely hi-RPM downshift when the service engine soon light came on.   The car continued to run at medium RPM but idled very roughly, as though it were running on only 3 cylinders.  Well, it turns out that it was, as a compression test showed -zero- in one cylinder.  The car was towed back to Chicago where Jamin will wait for repairs before he is able to make the drive back to New York.

Wally had driven the day on the snow tires he came on (which was a very different feeling), since it was a bit too cold to change to the race tires he'd brought along in his trailer.  I chose not to swap tires (or brake pads) either and just drive with my street Nitto tires & Napa pads.  This was enough of an experience to make me really appreciate the difference in performance that Carbotech Hawk pads & Kumho tires provide.  I also realized that a 3-way rear sway bar on full hard with average tires at track speeds makes for quite a loopy carnival ride (lots of oversteer).  Deebs did not have his usual car out on the track, but was still able to have an amazing driving experience - read on.

Back at the SPC garage -

Deebs' car was left behind for the weekend in the middle of some serious engine work.  Hmmm, what to drive...
