Chicago Auto Show '00

The show crowd (39k)

The Saturn Performance Club once again hosted an annual gathering to attend the Chicago Auto Show (you can see pics from our '99 auto show weekend HERE).  Those of us who traveled to Chicago braved blizzard conditions, but the exciting weekend was well worth the effort.

Attendees included Deebs, Tapp, Chris B, JP, Bill H, Wild Bill & Pat, and Mike P (IL), Kyle + wife + dog (WI), Wallyman & Julie (MI), Lane (WI), and Alex P (MN).  Special thanks to the SPC for providing complimentary tickets to the show to those who needed them.

Before heading out to the show on Saturday morning, we stopped by Best Racing for some serious salivating (you can see pics of our favorite speed shop HERE).  Best's staff provided us with info on upcoming Gingerman Raceway open-lapping sessions, and a short but informative talk on getting around a road course safely as we sank into a few of their Momo seats and enjoyed some donuts & milk.  Of course, I wasn't able to leave without making a purchase (big surprise).

After arriving at the Show and locating a place to park, we were able to get in and start enjoying the sights quickly as the crowd was very small - although this did change later in the day as the people started packing in.  As soon as we were in the door we made our way to the Saturn exhibit.

Before the show, I had not heard that Saturn & HKS had put together a turbo SC2 concept car.  Two words describe my impression of it: Holy crap.

Beautiful color-shifting paint, a tastefully integrated wing, attractive matching interior upholstery, flashy Enkei wheels, and an engine compartment perfect in every detail.

Finally, something suitable to hang in my garage.

Saturn SC-Turbo Concept--

The Saturn SC Coupe is fast becoming a favorite among specialized vehicle tuners across the United States.  With this in mind, Saturn worked in conjunction with HKS to create the SC-Turbo Concept.

From it's powerful 181-hp turbocharged 1.9-liter DOHC engine to its chameleon-like Nebula Blue Metallic paint with color-variable pigment from BASF, the SC-Turbo Concept is a one-of-a-kind vehicle, based on our new 2001 SC Coupe.

Inside, you'll find a custom-stitched two-tone leather interior and a RAZO pedal/shifter.  On the outside, you'll notice the tinted windows, rear light assembly, and side marker lights as well as mesh grille inserts.  All resting on 18-inch Enkei Phalenx wheels and Yokohama AVS Sport tires.

The SC-Turbo Concept was designed with the true enthusiast in mind, a perfect blend of performance and style.
