One Lap of America - 5/6/2001 |
Today's first
event was at Mid-Michigan Motorplex in
Stanton, MI. The One Lap participants would be taking a few timed runs down the
dragstrip, then participate in bracket eliminations. Points that were accumulated
would be based on how each competitor does in both areas. |
|
Once the teams arrive at the track, they have a very limited amount of time to unpack the vehicles, perform any last-minute maintenance that is necessary, and get lined up to head down the track.
|
Tom Brandlehner
piloted the coupe down the 1320. His best time was 14.1 seconds with 7 psi of
boost. Under full boost, the team felt that the car was capable of the mid
13s. Since this race was early in the week and they had a lot of events ahead of
them, it was a wise choice to take it easy on the car. Click HERE for video of the coupe's run (822k, requires Indeo 5 codec available HERE). Be sure to turn up your sound. |
The wagon's
driver on the drag strip was Jon Heltman, and his best time was 15.6 seconds. Click HERE for video of the wagon's run (810k, requires Indeo 5 codec available HERE). Be sure to turn up your sound.
