The 2002 SPC Rally |
Final
Thoughts... In the words of a few club members (as posted to the Saturn Performance Club mailing list): "I am now in the comfort of my own home, letting the car enjoy yet another few hours on the trailer in the sunlight. It was indeed another great Rally! Many thanks to Tapp and Deebs for their tireless work and effort. I know you guys do so much and you get so much done!!!! Thank you, so much! The Rally always makes my year!!!!" "Thanks also to Jeff and Deebs for pushing my reverse impaired car off the trailer!!! Kept her trans in one piece and for that, I owe ya! Milan was a lot of fun, the museum was great!..." "Now I am here waiting for the next Rally. It always goes by so quickly and takes so long to come around!!! It was a blast, and thanks to all who joined us and I hope you had a great time too. For those that didn't join us, PLEASE consider coming next year.. It's SO much fun that you just should NOT miss!!!!" - Christena S, West Carrollton, OH
"Just wanted to say that I had a GREAT time seeing everyone Friday morning and wish more than ever now that I could have joined for the rest of the week! Here's hoping that everybody has a safe trip home, and hope to see you guys again soon, for more than a couple hours next time eh." - Jason C, Grosse Ile, MI
"Well, this is my first rally and what a blast..." "My thanks to all those who setup the events, participated in them and those who just showed up for the heck of it. Those of you who could not make it, start planning for next year. I am, and I don't even own a Saturn!" "Special thanks to Mr. Tapp who gave me the ins and outs of brake work while at Gingerman." "A big 'you got hogged!' to the Saturn Motorsports guys who didnt get what they wanted out of their cars but kept on going regardless. And for also providing us with some killer prizes. Even had stuff for us non-Saturn owners! Thankfully Wally didnt show up on dyno day! You guys better show next year, even its just your own rides (it would be really cool if you brought the trailer again *wink wink nod nod*)! Tyler, I'm rooting for ya buddy! Kris, we gotta get you to sleep at some point. Tip of the hat to the folx at the Saturn 12-mile facility that fixed a mean plate of groceries, gave us a quick tour of the facility, and threw in some door prizes as well. Dewalt, Stanley and a couple of other vendors also tossed in stuff!" - Mike L, Omro, WI
"The rally was great! I only was there for Friday, and 15 minutes of Thursday. That tour [of the 12-Mile facility] was really informative. Of course we can't talk about what we saw our we'd have to kill you. ;)" - Eric P, Detroit, MI
"Well what a rally it was! I am home and finally well rested! (took 2 days!). We left Detroit around 3pm on Friday and reached CT with some stops around 1:30am. Both Steve & I had a great time and anybody who is there will get a kick out of the fact he was looking for high mileage used Saturns when we got back!" "Thanks again! And until next year..." - Jeff P, Torrington, CT
"Wow. It took a few days, but I think I've almost recovered from the Rally. It is hard for me to pick a favorite event or activity from the week, as they were all fun and exciting in their own way. I would once again like to thank EVERYONE who made an effort to come to the Rally, and to everyone who helped plan the events. It was good to meet the guys from Saturn Motorsports, and to get a chance to talk with them about the parts we'd like to see for our cars, and to be able to put faces with the names when I call out there. It was exciting to tour the 12-mile facility, and talk with the guys who helped design and build my car, and to see how they envision Saturn's future. The opportunity to see what they do with their spare time was cool too. Even though they don't all drive modified Saturns, it was good to know that they are all car guys at heart. There were so many fun and cool things that it is hard to fit it into one e-mail. But in closing, I'd like to say to the SPC commando unit (you know who you are!!) that our operation was a success. As I drove home from Chicago on Saturday, I saw a glimmer in the distance. It was the polished aluminum door of the Saturn Motorsports trailer, properly adorned, if you know what I mean." - Kevin K, St Louis, MO
"The SPC rally was a complete blast!" "I also want to thank Saturn Motorsports (hogged!!!) for showing up and distributing massive amounts of booty and Saturn Corp. for trusting us and showing the attendees a lot of top-secret stuff (and top-secret mechanical components that just might have been laying around, if you were really paying attention). In all, a great trip and if you willingly missed it, poo-poo on you." "It was another otherworldly rally not-to-be-missed." - Alex P, Afton, MN
