Chicago Auto Show '00

While attending the auto show, first-time SPC'er Alex P had what might loosely be referred to as a "Nutrition Bar".  It didn't quite agree with him and it proved not to be very nutritious.

Alex's allergic reaction was a bit more excitement than we were looking for (especially for him), and the group soon found itself at Chicago's Mercy Hospital to make sure Alex was alright.

As posted to the Saturn Performance Club mailing list:

Ambulance (12k)Hey all - It was great to meet everyone at the Auto Show.   I came thinking I was a Saturn nut.  Noooo.  I was just a babe in the woods.  After being brainwashed Friday and Saturday, completing the peanut death-bar test, and passing the "let's see how he reacts after backing up into his car" gauntlet, I feel that I am now truly a member of the SPC.  Thanks to everyone that came, especially when waiting for me at the hospital.

Damn, you're a bunch of super people!  I would especially like to thank John for being so helpful and his willingness to answer my every question in detail.  I still owe you for the stuff you've done for me.  I would also like to thank the three paramedics, five firemen, nurse, and cute-as-hell doctor for keeping me breathing and alive today.  See everyone at the rally, if not beforehand!!!

After a few hours of recovery, Alex appeared to be back to his normal self and in better spirits - until his car got backed into just outside of Deebs' driveway, that is.  How's that for bad luck?

It was quite an eventful day already but it wasn't over yet.  We were off to a local eating establishment for some pizza and serious conversation (well, not that serious really).

Blue Man Group (28k)

After our meal, we were off to the Briar Street Theatre in Downtown Chicago to see Blue Man Group.  Performance art, incredible music & sound (they played PVC pipe instruments by wailing on them with their shoes!), unique physical comedy, and some phenomenal audience participation made this an experience to remember.

Blue Man group has been on quite a few TV shows, and I've seen them on Letterman & Leno but it didn't compare to experiencing them in person.

Visit their website to see what they're all about, check out their CD, and read some reviews of their performances.  If you ever have a chance to visit their show, it has to be seen to be believed.

L to R: Bill H, Deebs, Kyle K, Wally, Lane, Wild Bill, Alex, Julie, and Brett.

Seeing the HKS/Saturn turbo coupe at the show was a real treat, the Blue Man Group was something to behold, the dinner & conversation were enjoyable as always, and the weekend had a few surprises & interesting moments.
