Subwoofer Enclosure (construction) The enclosure is a two-chambered 'L'-shaped box constructed from plywood internally braced every 8 inches, which makes it very stiff and very lightweight. I did not want to sacrifice any of the car's mileage or handling, and also didn't want to drastically change the ride height of the car.

The trunk and interior of the car are lined with Rockford Punch Mat to keep panel vibration to a minimum. The seats were removed from the car to place the larger half of the box in the trunk, while the smaller half was inserted through the trunk opening into the spare tire well (a can of fix-a-flat replaced the spare). The pieces were glued, screwed, and caulked, and the entire enclosure was bolted through the car's frame.

Alarm, power, and signal cables were run into the trunk at this time - after the box is finished, nothing will be able to be passed from the passenger compartment into the trunk. All of the coils of the dual voice coil subwoofers were wired with Phoenix Gold 12-gauge wire, and the whole sub system was tested for correct relative polarity before the box was closed up.
