Viewing the graph (19k)Tapp's car (23k)

Earlier on Saturday, Feb 17, 2001, we headed out to TMW Chassis Dyno Service in Morris IL.  Here we were able to strap the cars down and see what kind of real horsepower numbers our engines were making.  Several of us had done dyno pulls before (during the club's 1999 Rally) and this provided a great opportunity to see if any changes we'd done to the car had made a difference.

At the right we see Brian J getting ready for his pull.  This was the first SPC event that Brian attended, and his first time on the Dyno.  I think that the smile on his face when he finished was an indication that it wouldn't be his last.

You've got to admire a guy who brings a helmet to a dyno.

Mike made the trip from Eastern WI with his Ford Ranger.  Mike has driven with us at Gingerman Raceway before, but he was here today to measure the results of some recent hard work.  He'd just finished installing a supercharger a few weeks prior.

And boy, what an evil noise that blower makes.  Click HERE to listen (137k).

Modifications to my car at this point included HS Intake w/ conical filter, HS header, Borla cat-back exhaust, Random Technology catalytic converter, Centerforce 1 clutch, and Vitek plug wires (you can follow my chronological list HERE).

Max horsepower was 122.5 at approximately 6200 rpm.

"Why is your dyno horsepower less than what the car is rated at stock?"

One additional dyno note -

The sound of aftermarket intake & exhaust systems (and Mike's supercharger also) inside a closed garage while the car is at redline is a damn beautiful sound.  Everyone should be fortunate enough to experience it at least once.

Seeing your speedo exceed 100 miles per hour indoors isn't bad either.
