The 2001 SPC Rally |
The weather was
very warm and sunny. Everyone enjoyed the long leisurely day, listening to the roar
of intakes and exhaust as the cars rolled on and off the dyno. But it wasn't even 24
hours into the Rally yet, and we were already dead tired. |
There was also plenty of time for socializing and goofing off. Tommy & Ian made the trip all the way from Winnipeg, and their flag was flying high in the shop (with a bit of help from Kevin and a shopvac). It was time for
the unveiling of the SPC project car. When rolled out of the trailer, a lot of
'ooh's & 'aaah's could be heard from the crowd. Deebs and Tapp have spent a lot
of time getting this animal ready for the track. Unbelievable weight removal, lexan
windows, ultra-lightweight wheels w/ Hoosier rubber, Carrera/Koni suspension, a roll cage,
and a potent high-compression motor will make this one hell of a fun car. |
On the dyno, the car made 133 hp after a bit of fuel tuning (picked up 6 hp by turning down the fuel pressure and leaning out the mixture a bit!). The noise of the car's exhaust (no muffler or cat) at high RPM while on the dyno made many of us run from the shop. Once everyone was finished and packed up, we headed back toward headquarters for some dinner. After a long day at the dyno, Kevin shows that a cold one sure hits the spot.
