|
On May 27, 2000, a bunch of Saturn Performance Club members attended a SOLO 1-style drivers' school at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Rockton, Illinois. (You can find more information on SOLO 1 HERE.) Saturn owners that gathered for this day included Deebs, Noah G, Greg, Bill H, Lane, Bryce, Jim G, and Alex P.

The track is about 2 miles long, and posed quite a challenge for our driving skills (with a rough track surface with lots of nearby trees & tire walls to watch out for). You can read more about Blackhawk Farms Raceway HERE.

Saturday was a learning event where we were able to push the limits of our cars and improve our driving ability. Cars were broken up into 10 groups based on driver experience. Each group did 3 laps per session, and there were at least 8 sessions throughout the day. Instructors were available to ride along and provide great advice on how to navigate the course and improve our technique.

Near the end of the day, everyone was given a chance to run timed laps where they could compare their performance to other drivers. A SOLO 1 autocross took place on Sunday, although many of us were there for Saturday's instruction only.

The weather started out cloudy and rainy, with very cool temperatures. As we prepped our cars, the rain stopped and the track started to dry out. Most of the day was overcast and a bit cool.
