Dash trim

Everything was removed from the dashboard.  The gauge cluster will be replaced with aftermarket gauges later.  It all weighed in at 24 lbs.

Dash frame

The dashboard frame itself was then removed, weighing 17 lbs.

Dashboard frame removed

Here's a shot after the dashboard frame was removed.  That tilt wheel sure has a lot of travel.

HVAC system

Next came the HVAC system (heating, ventilating, air conditioning) - good for 24 lbs.  Re-routing of coolant lines were required (since there no longer was a heater core).

Firewall insulation

The firewall insulation weighed 10 lbs.

After HVAC removal

Removing the HVAC and firewall insulation is a great way to add leg room.

Removing brackets

An air drill with a spot weld cutter makes a quick job of removing many of the now unnecessary mounting brackets throughout the car.  I'll post the weight when they're all out.

Removing more mat

Continuing to remove the asphalt-backed mat with a heat gun and a scraper.  This job sucks, but...

All the mat

The job is finally finished.  Removing all the asphalt-backed mat lightened the car by 16 lbs.

Roof trim

The headliner, dome light & wiring, sun visors, and map lights weighed 4 lbs.
