Amplifiers (trunk)

After the box was sealed up, two Phoenix Gold amplifiers were installed upside-down with plexi bottoms visible.  Plexi also covers the wiring that can be seen between the amplifiers, and mirrored plexi resides below the wiring.  Four fans cool the amps from below and turn on when the system is powered up.  A fan-override switch is installed in the ash tray up front to turn the fans off during sound quality judging.   The amps receive power from the distribution blocks via 7-gauge cable.

EQ (23k)

Equalizer (trunk)

A Phoenix Gold third-octave EQ (EQ 230) is mounted on the right side of the trunk, and covered with a protective plexi panel.  The musical signal is carried throughout the system with Phoenix Gold Triple Shielded RCA cables.  The signal's output voltage coming out of the EQ is approximately 8 volts with both amplifier gain controls set to their minimum.   Noise in the system is nonexistent.  An oscilloscope was used to match levels between components and Coustic & AudioControl RTAs are periodically used to tune the system's frequency response (along with a great deal of careful listening and a lot of time).

Best RTA frequency response scores in competition to date:
Coustic: 37 points (out of 40), see example scoresheet HERE (13k).
AudioControl: 37 points (out of 40), see example scoresheet HERE (13k).
