The 2007 SPC Rally |
Reception at SPC Headquarters |
Deebs had recently moved to a new house with a lot more space. Today he'd be taking advantage of it to host the Rally's closing reception for club members. The group left from
the dyno shop and began arriving late in the afternoon. |

Several weeks prior, two of our club members had been invited by Saturn to attend their Brand Advocate Board meeting in Detroit. John L represented GF Racing (our partner in the Club's racing effort), and Kevin K attended representing the Club itself.
The Brand Advocate Board meeting invitation was
a rare and prestigious honor with only a handful of Saturn owners from
around North America in attendance. John and Kevin took this
opportunity to show some photos and talk about their experience at the
meeting. You can find Kevin's writeup on the event, as well as photos
& links to more information on the SPC site
HERE. |
It was also time for the Rally awards presentation. If you recall, Gary H encountered clutch/transmission problems with his Porsche at our lapping event on the prior day. Since Gary couldn't be present on this day, he had been awarded the Most Spectacular Failure award earlier. Tim N was presented the award for Highest
Dyno Horsepower for the group with his Ion Red Line.
The plaque reads "ninety eight", and you can see the origin of this
meaningful phrase HERE (see
bottom photo). |

Brian and Amanda drove from Massachusetts in their Miata, and that was a far enough drive to receive the Jeff Putnam Memorial Distance Award. Today, that was a plaque with a GT-R emblem on it. (Background: Jeff Putnam is a club member who consistently attends our events from Connecticuit, but since he's on the club's board, we don't allow him to qualify for the award.) Jarod A was presented the
Club Spirit Award. Jarod has been to quite a few club events
with a number of vehicles, and he has never owned a Saturn. The plaque
has a Twin Cam 16 Valve emblem on it from an S-Series car.
We're gonna help him get that Saturn, even if it is one part at a time. After the awards were presented late in the afternoon, everyone said their goodbyes. Some drove home on Friday evening, and some waited until Saturday morning (May 19) to hit the road. What a perfect way to end the week, and the Saturn Performance Club's tenth annual Rally. It was great getting to see everyone once again, as well as being able to meet the new members who had only previously been known by their e-mail addresses. Let the countdown start for next year's rally... Let's take a look at some of the people who joined us for the week's activities - |
